"Knight light" sounds like "night light" - a small bedside lamp! Medieval castles used torches, candles, oil lamps, and rush lights for illumination. Knights were armored warriors of the Middle Ages who followed strict codes of chivalry. Most medieval lighting was dim by modern standards - a typical great hall might use dozens of candles yet remain shadowy. The cresset, an iron basket holding burning materials, was a common medieval light source mounted on castle walls!
