"Stick its neck out" means to take a risk — but giraffes literally stick their necks out to reach tree leaves! A giraffe's neck can be up to 6 feet long and weighs around 600 pounds, yet it contains the same number of vertebrae as a human neck: just seven. Despite their height, giraffes can go weeks without drinking water, getting most of their hydration from the leaves they munch.
