A good movie is great, but it can all be ruined by a terrible ending. These movies could have been box office hits, but due to their lackluster conclusion, they left viewers less than enthused. Which of these movies do you think deserves a reshoot?

The Matrix Revolutions
People loved this trilogy but hated the ending of it. The final film of this storyline was rough to sit through. The Matrix Revolutions ended with an epic fight between Agent Smith and our heroes. The whole thing ends in a giant explosion and then...that's kind of it. Obviously not what people wanted.
Interstellar
Matthew McConaughey starred in this epic science fiction flick about floating through space. This in-depth and intense thriller was beloved by fans, but the ending of it was not. He ends up going through a black hole and goes through it to an alternate reality. It didn't land well with fans.
Signs
This 2002 M. Night Shyamalan flick is one of his worst endings, and that's saying something! What seems like a thrilling survival movie is actually about...aliens. The main character uncovers a great weapon near the climax of the film. The way to end alien invasion? Just add water!
The Forgotten
A woman claims her son has passed away in a plane crash, or so she thinks. The people in her life say she never had a son, but she doesn't let it go. It turns out that she wasn't crazy, and she did have a son once. Aliens were using her as an experiment to figure out how love works between people.
The Sea of Trees
This Cannes film did poorly when it came to theaters, due in part to the ending. This harrowing look at grief and friendship ends with the main character learning something about his new friend. Turns out, the man that he had met was actually his dead wife's spirit. Weird...
War of the Worlds
The crime of unrealism is the reason fans didn't love the ending of this Speilberg film. Despite the entire city of Boston crumbling around them, every member of the Ferrier family escapes without injury. Viewers didn't believe that aliens wouldn't get at least one of these heroes!
Unfaithful
This true-crime retelling is a true crime against storytelling. A married man discovers his wife is cheating on him, so he takes the man out of the picture himself. The couple then leaves the country to avoid prison. The final scene doesn't reveal whether or not he was ever caught for the crime...why?
Law Abiding Citizen
While otherwise well-liked, fans found the end of this movie as something to be desired. After getting his revenge on the people who wronged his dead wife, the hero turns himself over to the police. Yet he still somehow is able to blow up City Hall with a device that he was allowed to have in his cell!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2
Harry Potter is one of the biggest franchises ever, but people didn't love the final scene of the final film. Namely, the jump from finally defeating Voldemort to sending his kids off to school. Also the names...James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. Yikes!
The Mist
Is there any more heartbreaking ending than that of The Mist? The main character mercifully kills his family in order to spare them from the mist. In less than a few minutes after doing so, the military comes to save them all. It was a tough type of cruelty.
The Departed
No one came out of this film unscathed, the characters include. After learning to love each of the team members, the entire thing ends with pretty much everyone dies. There is no closure and no one leaves the theater happy with the ending.
Krampus
If you like horror-comedy, this is a fun way to pass time. Otherwise, this is a must-skip. Most people who saw this film thought that the ending was too confusing and hard to interpret. Not to mention that creepy face coming out of nowhere...
Hereditary
Hailed as one of the best horror movies ever, not everyone loved the ending of the scary scenes. The voiceover explaining what the movie was about and what actually happened felt a bit too on the nose for some fans. What could have been a perfect film fell flat at the end!
Soul
This film was praised for its design and animation, not for its plotline. After spending the entire movie trying to connect Joe back to his body, he finally becomes okay with his own death. In a moment, he forgets everything he's learned and jumps at the chance to go back to Earth.
SPF-18
Teens love Nah Centineo flicks, but even Generation Z couldn't get behind this clunker. When this weird beach drama comes to a close, it ends with a couple broken up and still hanging out, but also trying to start their friend's music career? It was kind of a lazy way to tie up the plot. Lame!
The Life of David Gale
It starts with our hero incarcerated for some pretty tragic criminal activity. He undergoes some serious punishment before a tape is released claiming that everything else was a rouse for another thing. In fact, the two leads just wanted people to reconsider the prison industrial system and the penalties with it!
Baby Driver
Baby is the best in the business. He can drive any car at lightning speed, but he gets caught at the end. He ends up being sentenced to 25 years in prison for his crimes, during which his girlfriend waits for him and gets him a snazzy new car. Yeah, super believable...
Uncut Gems
For this beloved Adam Sandler movie, many audiences found him infuriating. For hours on end, they watched him make wrong decisions left and right. It seemed like he never got a break! The ending of a robbery and shoot-out was seen as lazy and harrowing.
It's a Wonderful Life
Cynics did not love the ending of this classic feel-good Christmas story. With Uncle Billy not being held responsible for his foolishness, and a lot of financial problems, the whole thing was wrapped up with donations. Shouldn't Potter at least suffer some kind of consequence!
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
Most Harry Potter fans either loved or hated this movie, and the ending was pretty tough. Queenie made a choice that was pretty opposite of her character arch. Plus, Credence as a Dumbledore turned out to be one of the lamest twists in the series!
Pay it Forward
This flick is all about the benefits of helping others and paying one's own good fortune forward...so why is the ending so depressing? Fans hated the way this movie ended with the main character dying. Some said it taught kids that being good and doing nice things is pointless!
Remember Me
In one of the most buckwild endings of all time, the entire movie centers around one young adult's relationship with his father, sister, and girlfriend. The intricacies aren't that important because the only thing anyone remembered was that the whole thing ended in the towers on 9/11!

If you had the chance to pause, rewind, mute, and more, would you? Click puts one man in the theater seat of his own life, and it has some dire consequences. After a truly heartbreaking scene, Adam Sandler wakes up in a Bed, Bath, and Beyond store. It was all a dream!
The Circle
You might think with Emma Watson in the leading role, this movie would be a slam dunk. However, the movie was a major flop, ending included. Watson (as Mae) challenges her ideas of privacy, ethics, and freedom. Despite everything she learned, she joins the Circle once again.
Lucy
Aside from being scientifically inaccurate (you already use 100% of your brain, duh) this movie is also just plain bad. The anticlimactic conclusion is just her leaving it all behind. You would think a supermind genius would have something a little more creative to offer...
Gone Girl
Some people consider this a perfect movie, but the ending falls flat for others. When Amy returns back to her husband as if nothing has happened, he and the audience was shocked. However, the idea that he would stay with his psycho wife instead of running away with the baby is a bit insane.
Grease
If you love someone, make sure you change everything about yourself to be with them! That was the message some people got from the hit musical movie Grease. Not to mention the part where they fly into the sky in a magical car... why did that even happen?

When a movie ends suddenly, usually it's a commentary on the way people perceive others and the futility of living. However, Special ended in quite a special way. The tragic ending left much to be desired, as well as the reasoning behind why they chose to do it that way...

Who said horror can't be hilarious? That's what the movie Tusk tried to accomplish, but it ended up way closer to disturbing than funny. In the end, the main character escapes and outruns his captor. However, he lives the rest of his days in solitude because he is no longer human. Yikes!
High Fidelity
A wonderful book, an interesting TV show, and a terrible movie (according to some). High Fidelity follows the pretentious owner of a record store who loses a girlfriend and tries hard to right his wrongs of past loves. They end up together in the end, but most agree she was better off alone...
Savages
Who keeps employing John Travolta in these terrible movies? The movie ends in a shootout filled with violence and tragedy, and the two main characters too badly wounded to recover. They decide to end it all for themselves so they don't have to live without their friends. Sounds depressing...
2012
For some reason, people believed that the world was going to end in 2012. This movie was all about that hypothetical day. After a day of fighting the world and besting the survival of fate, the little girl tells her dad she is not scared anymore and then the film is just over. Very strange...
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was a beloved franchise for many people, but the third part of the trilogy was pretty disappointing. If you were hoping for some sort of happy ending for these deeply flawed and tragic characters then you should look for a different flick!
Clueless
Though this is one of the most beloved movies of the 1990s, it also has some weird connotations. Even though Cher and her older ex-stepbrother are not actually related, by blood or marriage, it still left a bad impression on viewers. Why not date someone your own age, who wasn't previously part of your family?
Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Vicky Cristina Barcelona can't have it all, and that includes a decent ending. None of the initial issues of the film are ever resolved. In fact, they might be left bigger than they were initially. Why even sit through that when you could do literally anything else? Pass!

Christian Bale is one of the best ever to take on the role of Batman, but the entire film isn't perfect. The ending is a little too predictable and didn't leave a lot of room for a sequel. Gotham mourns the loss of their hero, and his Butler Alfred goes on a much-needed vacation. Pretty boring...

Sure, this movie was good enough to get a few sequels, but there was a lot to be desired in the first iteration. A group of magicians and illusionists team up to rob a bank using trickery and clever movement. The twist ending was, guess what, another trick! A perfect setup for another one...

Jake Gyllenhaal stars in this thrilling science fiction flick. Using new tech, he's able to live in the body of another person for a little while. This is a cool premise, but the ending is too confusing for many people to understand. Adding in alternate realities is a surefire way to lose the audience...
The Abyss
Any movie from the 1980s is subject to a little criticism, and this one is included. While it was generally a pretty decent film, the ending seemed a little too manufactured for fans of sci-fi. Aliens save the underwater station, life returns to normal, and everything is wrapped up with a little bow.
The Hedgehog
The Hedgehog is about a young girl and a concierge trying to find herself. it's based on a French novel, so a little tragedy is to be expected. However, the twist ending is the concierge dying out of seemingly nowhere. It was deemed a little too depressing, even for the most downer of viewers...
Man of Steel
Superman is a timeless hero with a highly serious fan base, and they take this guy seriously. When Superman ends up killing the enemy, it might sound good, but superfans know that's pretty out of character. Superman would never take the life of someone who might reconcile!
Splice
If you turn this movie on, prepare to be lost in the insane plot and the unsettling-looking mutant. There is a lot to complain about with this gene-splicing film, but the ending is maybe the worst. The leading lady accidentally gets pregnant by the mutant she made herself. Yikes!

With Nicolas Cage on the cast list, you know this could be a great or terrible movie with no in-between. This is one of the bad ones. Cage plays a magician who can see only 2 minutes into the future. Somehow, with his girlfriend staying with him, he's able to prevent nuclear explosions? Sure.
Knowing
Another day, another terrible Nicholas Cage film to consider. A man finds tons of encrypted notes in a time capsule. He uncovers an incoming alien invasion. His son survives, but Cage does not. The kid and his friend become besties with the aliens and live peacefully in the stars. Okay?
The Devil Inside
The Devil Inside is all about possession, but it doesn't possess a decent conclusion! The movie ends with a car accident and a note that says the story continues at a certain web address. Maybe innovative for the time, but this link doesn't even work anymore. What happened? We may never know...
I Am Legend
