If you're feeling nostalgic for a college dining hall, Kellogg's latest invention may be able to evoke a similar feeling. After all, with the Bowl Bot, the world of cereal is right at your fingertips.
Kellogg's Away from Home, the division of the company that works with foodservice operators, and Chowbotics, the DoorDash-owned startup that seeks to make food more accessible by utilizing robot technology, have teamed up to create Bowl Bot.
Students can use the touchscreen interface—or the Chowbotics app—to create their own custom cereal at the Bowl Bot station. The Bowl Bot allows them to blend together any combination of cereal brands, milk or dairy options, as well as toppings like fruits, nuts, and seeds.
If students aren't feeling creative, the Bowl Bot comes loaded with seven pre-programmed options, all of which range from $2.99 to $6.50 in price can be paid for with a student meal plan.
There's the "About Last Night," which mixes Flakes, Froot Loops, Krave Chocolate, chocolate drops, banana chips, and espresso syrup; the "Hawaii 5–0" made with Frosted Mini-Wheats, Bear Naked Fit Triple Berry Granola, pineapple, coconut, and mango; and the "Valentine's Day Vibes," which combines Special K Red Berries Cereal, cocoa nibs, blueberries, strawberries, and whole milk.
The Bowl Bot has been introduced at both Florida State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison for students to try out.
